I am happy x2. I have no idea what the previous reviews were talking about, Double Happy is a wonderful restaurant with a cozy and personable atmosphere. I adore the owner Mai and her two wonderful daughters and husband who happens to be the cook. The food is excillent and with a huge amount of choices for three different menus everyone will find something they love. I have always been very pleased with there prompt delivery, charming atmosphere, and they also cater. Perhaps they have made improvements to the resterant since the last time you visted i recomend you return and enjoy what i consider to be the best Chinese food I have ever had.
Dim Sum, Yum!.
I was hesitant to order after reading the existing reviews.
Being a lover of Dim Sum I couldn't resist trying and am so delighted that I did.
They have a deal - order any five for 19.95 instead of the 4.95 to 5.95 for single orders.
I had BBQ bun, Currigon beef (not a typo), and Sesame ball (bean) that were all delicious.
The Coconut Shrimp was pretty good. I didn't like the Dim Sum Shrimp - it was fishy tasting.
The lady who took my order was pleasant and helpful. The delivery took less time than estimated.
If I could add anything I'd enjoy a dipping sauce with ginger along with the usual hot mustard that came with the order.
Double Happy is now on my delivery list.
Lonely, Expensive, Bland.. Having been to, and been delivered to from double happy, i can say that the latter of the two is the way to go. Whether you go with a large group our by yourself this restraunt is almost perpetually empty. On our most recent visit there were only 3 people in the room outside of our group. One of them ignored us because he was watching a small tv on a card table in the middle of the seating area, the second was our waitress who i don't think knew very much english, the third was the chef. Having been given only one option to drink, a bland tea that needed copious amounts of sugar we resorted to burying ourselves in our menus. Now in theory the menus sound wonderful, a collection of odd pork, chicken and seafood dishes make us want to forget the terrible atmosphere, but after ordering we waited about an hour plus for our food to arrive, I wish it had taken longer. The only really decent entree was the moo-shoo and pancakes, all the other dishes had either no flavor at all, or simply too much or too revolting. The eggrolls were ok, but had the texture and feel that i thought they were from a box and a microwave. As our party left, i snatched one or two fortune cookies from the bowl on the counter, and to be honest, that was my favorite part of the whole experiene.
Totally yucky!. We were the only ones in the restaurant, which was fine but a little odd. The waitress didn't offer us nothing else to drink. The soup and egg rolls were very good, so I thought we were doing ok then, other than being overpriced. But then when we got the entree, it was awful! I got Beef with Broccoli, which is very simple and yet the sauce used was nasty! I thought it was hard to mess up Chinese food, but I guess not. If you were only going to eat soup and egg roll, it would be fine, but don't get anything else. I didnt even take leftovers home. Awful, I now call it Double Nasty! Dont waste your money!
