Nice Restaurant in a Great Setting. The restaurant is right next to the park so you can walk around before or after dinner. The food was above-average, I had the trout which I thought was the bext I've ever had. I'm surprised by the reviews below but I had an opportunity to try a few bites of the other meals that were ordered for our table and they were all good. I thought the dining hall needed a little updating but overall this is a good restaurant.
No longer a place I would recommend.
I use to love to go to Chautauqua for dinner, it was once a wonderful place to eat and enjoy the beautiful setting. I hate to say this but I wouldn't recommend it. The service is so bad, menu is limited and the food is nothing special. I just took a party of 10 there for dinner and it was a total waste of money. This place clear suffers from any imagination and attention to detail. You might as well go eat at Denny's down the street for a lot less money.
Very, very sad.
Boulder's venerable dining hall still offers a great dining experience and an unbeatable view..
In Short
This 1898 building may be a bit worn, but it holds a lot of nostalgia. Diners vie to sit on the patio, which offers prime mountain views and heaters to fend off the chill. Families and couples dine on everything from fried chicken to seasonal dishes such as Colorado lamb with spring vegetables. On Sunday mornings there's a popular buffet brunch with dishes such as omelets, blueberry pancakes, chicken enchiladas and quiche.
Great Wine!!!. What an amazing wine deal!! Half off all bottles of wine on their much improved list. The dining hall has been revamped with amazing wood tables and a much cleaner look. While the porch is still the place to be (heated too!) the inside is very cozy. The food was great, well informed staff, and a truly great evening. IF YOU LOVE WINE GO TO CHAUTAUQUA DINING HALL!!
Worst experience in 8 years!.
My wife and I made reservations for dinner at 7. We arrived a bit early and were made to wait while other walk-up parties were seated. Finally seated 10 minutes past reservation time, but didn't see a waiter for another 10 minutes (after asking the hostess twice). We ordered a couple of burgers, medium and well done-- received one that was medium rare and one that was virtually raw.
This place draws a constant vacuum since the change in management!
Overrated. Their food is adequate--nothing particularly fantastic on the menu. Mixups with reservations seem common. The service is often spotty, but it depends.
Perfect Park. Chautaqua Park is a treasure! There are trails to hike; a wonderful hill for flying kites; grassy area for frisbee, playing ball, playing badminton, sitting around playing guitars, picnicing, reading, and people watching; a playground area; an historic auditorium theater and restaurant; historic bungalows to rent out for a weekend; a great place for getting engaged or getting married!
Wonderful setting. It's as though you have stepped back in time as you walk towards the steps of this splendid restaurant. The setting put's you in a relaxing mood with the Flatirons rasing out of the trees above you. The food and service let's you continue that feeling of relaxation. Great place to take new comers to the Denver area.
