Good pizza, but too expensive, slow delivery & terrible customer service – ***I will never buy a pizza from Jalino's again.***
Jalino's delivery times are often very slow, but last weekend our pizza took TWO HOURS to arrive. When our pizza hadn't arrived after an hour we called the store. We were told that it was already on its way. 30 minutes later the pizza still hadn't arrived. We called again and were told the same thing. When our pizza (which wasn't even cooked all the way through) finally arrived after two hours (and the delivery driver told us she had left the store 10 minutes earlier?), my boyfriend called and asked to speak to the owner. Although he was frustrated, my boyfriend was polite on the phone and just wanted to know why we had been given differing information, and if they would offer us a discount.
The owner was very rude and unapologetic about our long wait and the inconvenience. While he eventually gave us a refund for the pizza, he never offered an apology.
I understand that it can get busy on the weekends, and I understand that delivery times can be slow. But the owner should have at least been kind enough to apologize for the fact that we had waited two hours for our pizza. Instead, he acted as though we were being difficult and demanding by calling him, and that we were trying to scam him by asking for a discount. I do not want to contribute my money to an owner who treats his customers so poorly. Maybe we were just unlucky enough to catch the owner on a bad day, but I'm still not going to order from Jalino's ever again.
Also, I'm not sure why Jalino's is described as "cheap eats." This is some of the priciest pizza in town. While there is a wide range of options for toppings and the pizzas are usually quite tasty, these aren't organic pizzas. Yet a SMALL pizza with only one topping will run you $13! And that's BEFORE tax and delivery charges and tips.
This hidden spot offers some of Boulder's best carry-out pizza. – In Short
The restaurant has a counter in front of the shop and a few stools, but most customers prefer to order their pizzas for carry out. The pizza here isn't Chicago-style or New York-style; it's an amalgam of dough, sauce and cheese techniques. Customers can pile on a grocery list of toppings and even have it vegan-style with soy cheese. The sandwiches are great, too, and the calzones are a solid choice, although not as gooey as some may like.
Not bad for food in Boulder – I must preface this commentary by saying that of all the pizzas I've had in Boulder, CO this is the better of them. While still not up to par with pizzas form coastal cities, at least the pizzas do not arrive soggy. They actually have toppings like feta and artichokes - not that you can find that at many pizzerias in town. For the most part though most food in Boulder in mediocre at best so I wouldn't expect pizzas to be stellar. It is a little overpriced - but definately better than Dominos.
Worst Pizza ever – I ordered delivery, so maybe that was the problem, but I'm amazed at their 9 rating. I thought that this was probably the worst, doughy, awful sauce pizza I think I have ever had and I've eaten a lot of pizza! I would not recommend at all.
I often drive 20+ miles for this pizza ! – I frequently drive 20+ miles (one way) to get Jalino's pizza, since 1997. Most of Colorado is a
pizza wasteland, thank the pizza gods for Jalino's.
Pizza of this quality doesn't come cheap, but the
price is fair for the quality and quantity of
ingredients. THe Rocky Mountain News food
critic gives them the rare A- rating and I firmly
agree. They don't have the space for sit-down
dining, but take it home and it's great. We've
even enjoyed it for Thanksgiving dinner one year
in the middle of a move.
Pizza makers should need a license. – What a disgusting grease pie place...I thought I was eating a sponge soaked with oil and tomatoe sauce. This place wouldn't last an hour in Chicago or NY.
supurb – I think that Jalinos is so good that I drive from Denver all the way to Boulder When I am in the mood for pizza.
the best pizza – I love the sauce on this pizza! As a native New Yorker, this is the closest to the real thing!
The Best – Best sauce in Colorado, reminds me of being back in Chicago. Great pizza that hits the spot every time. This is the best zzza I've had in the region.
Jalino's in the Top 10?!? Absolutely NOT – I am a University of Colorado in Boulder, CO student, and I have NO idea why Jalino's would even be in the top 20 pizzaria's in Colorado. Not only is the pizza WAAAAAY overpriced, but the quality is below par. From experiencing Jalino's firsthand, I would say Dominos Pizza outscores Jalinos in every aspect by far.
