Hotels >Hotel Boulderado
An establishment of Old-World sophistication and elegance..
The ornate decorations of this hotel, which has hosted Robert Frost, Helen Keller and Louis Armstrong, include original pieces from its 1909 opening as well as Victorian replicas. Take note of the 1908 Otis elevator with its stained-glass ceiling and antique wrought-iron doors (wait for an operator--don't try it yourself). During the hotel's various renovations, treasures such as World War I medical stretchers have been discovered.
The rooms are luxurious and comfortable, filled with antique furnishings. Located on the edge of the Pearl Street Mall, this is downtown Boulder's only hotel, drawing a corporate crowd along with a continental one. The hotel recommends reserving rooms a couple of months in advance; it's usually full May through October. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas, visitors can enjoy a quiet holiday escape during the hotel's slowest time.
