Excellent.
I'm always looking to try different food and I'm not a big fan of Indian food but both the food and service were excellent. I would recommend this restauarnt to anyone looking to try new food. The flavor of the food was above what you get at most restauarnts in Boulder.

Incredibly good food at a really good price.
I'm with offender4848 — the Taj has been the consistently best Indian food I've found in Colorado. Having travelled to Nepal, lived in Los Angeles for over 20 years and checked out all sorts of Indian restaurants from Edison NJ to London to Chicago and back, I think I have some good points of reference. Naans are great, the curriess are tasty and the desserts are rich and satisfying. The Taj also provides condiments including "spicy pickle" (an Indian specialty that combines INTENSE hot, vinegar and salt; it's an acquired taste but fabulous) along with traditional Chai. I LOVE THE TAJ!!!! and it's so much closer than Bombay.

Lovely Food, Wretched Service.
When ever I'm craving Indian food, the dishes at Taj pop into my head, and my boyfriend and I go there every couple of months. Both the buffet and the menu dishes are very good, but I always leave disappointed because of the service. The waiters and waitresses are sullen and un-helpful. Take last night - the waitress hovered annoyingly for the first part of the meal when we wanted to be left alone to eat, then completely ignored us for the end - we waited 20 minutes for the waitress to even reappear from the kitchens to ask for our check. This place is a clear example of how bad service can completely ruin lovely food. We will be looking for somewhere else to get our Indian fix.

Best Indian food outside of India.
I don?t know why the last post was so upset about the food? I lived in India and the Taj is the best Indian food I have have had outside of India. It?s great and there is a reason for the hype because the food is very good. I would suggest this to anyone who is coming to Boulder. My favorite dish is the banana fritters although it?s not a dish ate in India it is still wonderful.

AWFUL-WORST INDIAN FOOD EVER!!!!.
So I am not an expert-but I eat a lot of Indian food and this is the worst. I went to the Taj the other night after hearing gret things about it-and I was so disappointed! As a vegetarian all I wanted was good paneer and chana masala-I ended up with Malai Kofta that look like meatballs (supposed to be vegetarian) in a nasty sauce that was like a seperated and oily masala that just tasted like grease-no flavor. I have never seen something so unappetizing. The Chana was so watery and the chick peas tasted old and squishy and it had no flavor at all. Everything was super sweet and just gross. Plus our service was pretty bad-granted we came in late-and our server tried to usher us through the buffet-which we didn't want-which seemed to make her pretty frustrated. When I complained about the food-she offered to put more spices in it-I really don't think that would have solved the problem! She didn't comp anything, but did offer to remake stuff -but that was definitely not what I wanted to have happen. If you like your food to have spice, or general flavor-this is not the place for you. Don't believe the hype-this place is terrible!

Fresh and tasty.
The Taj is a great place to eat. The food is VERY fresh and carefully prepared. Healthy Indian food! The atmosphere is friendly. plenty of parking, and you can sit near the west-facing windows and see a beautiful view of the flatirons. The wait staff is polite and efficient. A fine lunch buffet and a good place to take guests for dinner.
