I first enjoyed the Black Forest back in college, and more recently when we stopped in during a bike ride. They have very good German food, but also offer American selections. There is also a full service bar for those who stop in for an afternoon of conversation with friends.

Missed the food I ate as a kid in germany. Thought I'd try this place out, and while it was fairly enjoyable, and the atmosphere was interesting enough, I didn't care for the place. Weinerschnitzel wasn't as good as what I can make at home...a bit flavorless. Oxtail soup was not very stout. The cabbage dishes were great. Bread basket was nice. Service slow. Looooooooong wait for a table. Number of bathrooms inadequate; had to wait 20 minutes to get in, and had to go downstairs, which wasn't "accessible". Had to go to the concierge to get my ticket. Glasses weren't refilled with drink.... Not impressed at all.

In March of 07 myself and two friends attempted to dine at the Black Forest for dinner. It was a Saturday night at 8:25 and they claimed that the kitchen was closed and no food was left. The matre'd and the manager both rushed over to be sure that we were made to feel unwelcome. Not one pretzel or piece of schitzel to be eaten in the whole place? There were other people eating in the restaraunt when we arrived. I had to beg my friends to come to this restaraunt. It seems that around Ned it is commonly known that this establishment discriminates against it's prospective patrons. If you don't look "right", you may be refused service. I have dined in places all over the world and spent three years living in Stuttgart. The management of the Black Forest is the absolute LEAST hospitable I have ever encountered. If you want to give money to liars and bigots, then please go to the Black Forest. I'll never go back. This site keeps takeing my review down. Do you only allow positive comments?
