Tips for Dakota Ridge Family Medicine

December 21, 2012

I have been seen by every doc at Dakota Ridge. There are many good things to say but one thing that instills my confidence is their competence and knowledge. They all know so much general medicine that they never get locked into arrogance or pride. They are always willing to refer me to a competent specialist if they think it appropriate.

fantastic!. We ave been going to Dakota Ridge since we moved to Boulder 8 years ago. Over the years, I've seen every doctor there- my spouse and mom in law see Dr. Hadley, and I see Dr. Carpenter, as does my mom. Over the years, this excellent practice has seen my extended family through surgeries, breast cancer, congestive heart problems, hockey injuries, and a wide variety of day to day complaints. While I usually see the doctor within 15 minutes of my appointment time, occasionally the wait has been longer- but something I am happy to accommodate, because when it is my turn I am never rushed through my appointment . CJ and Melissa are two of the competent medical practitioners I see regularly as well.

This is the first time that I've made a review, but I felt it was important to put my in my 2 cents. This is a first rate practice.

Incompetent waste of time. Went in to see Dr. Hadley for a knee injury. This man is not worthy of calling himself a doctor in my opinion. He does nothing but refer his patients to other providers. After waiting for well over an hour and a half in the waiting room past my appointment time, he said just two things after poking at me for less than a minute - Here is a referral for an x-ray, and Here is the name of an orthopedic specialist to go see once the x-rays have been taken. This man is no better than a self Service vending machine. He was disinterested and did not even have the courtesy to even look me in the eye the whole time I was there. USELESS! Go elsewhere for your medical care unless you are a 20 something sports freak - that seems to be the only type that will get any care at this place.

These medical group members do great service. Good bet.. This medical team assists me with Medicare, lab needs, and all helth-related issues with good availability, affability and ability. George Hunt, Patient

Have been going for 5+ years with no complaints. Was looking up the phone number and was shocked by the negative reviews, felt the need to write my own, as I think it's a great practice.

I see CJ, and have always been pleased with the level of care I have recieved. I have found all of the staff to be friendly and helpful, and those that I have interacted with have seemed very knowledgeable.

Maybe I am easy to please, but I like their (CJ's anyway) approach to medicine and the health of their patients, and would have to have some terrible experience or move away to look for another clinic.

The digs are homey, and the staff are nice. Reminds me of the practice that I grew up with.

sounds like the 5 star reviews are employee biased. Instead of trying to compensate for what a negative commentor wrote why don't you write why you think its a good place and your experience.

I tried out Dakota Ridge family practice because it was close to school and convenient. Unfortunately conveinance and quality don't go hand in hand. They weren't sure if my insurance was accepted but made it sound like it wasn't a big deal and treated me anyway (there not going to have to foot the bill, they just want a customer). Apparently it wasn't and the charged the insurnace anyway assuming that it wouldn't be a big deal.

I was referred to the practice after an Emergency room visit and was requested to have further treatement here. I waited quite a long time and finally got to see the doctor. Told her my symptoms and she basically implied to suck it up and take promethazine (cough syrup). I then asked for a Doctors note to be excused for the class time I missed. Instead of just writing a letter excusing me, she stated patient "complaining of high fever" and apparently had a visit to the E.R. the patient reports these symptoms but her wording implies (could have been faking). Instead of just writing a normal note she went out of her way to make it sound like I was trying to get out school. This was probably the sickest I have ever felt in my life but because I was a college student I appeard to just be trying to "get out of class." screw this doctor and her professionalism. She has caused me more hardache then helped. I will never go back

My ONLY Choice. I disagree completely with the first review. I have been going to this practice since I was prenatal, 26 years ago. I was delivered by a now retired physician there, as was my sibling. I love the way they all get to know you and are interested in your needs and there is never a lack of small talk (i.e. How's your mom?, Did you get the house you were looking at?, etc.). They have always treated me and my family as though we were part of their families. This is the best family practice around!

Great Doc. I too disagree with the first review. I found my doc, Dr Muzny, by referral from a friend. I've been going for over 5 years now, and couldn't be more pleased. She has taken the time to get to know me and we have had great results. She has excellent "bedside manner" and I would recommend her to anyone. The nurses and techs that I have worked with have been really good. It is a typical very busy family practice.

Great practice. I disagree with the previous reviews about bed side manner. I think this practice is fantastic. They are knowledgeable, get you in quickly, and follow-up appropriately. Dr. Graff is one of the best physicians in Boulder!

If you like rude bedside manners than this practice is for U. I would not recommend getting into this practice. A long story, but basically unfeeling and uncaring. Terrible bedside manner. Misdiagnoses galore. I went in for what I thought was UTI and was told I had appendicitis and I should make some phone calls. I was freaking out and than another Dr. came in to check me out and said I didn't have appendicitis. No one could figure out what was wrong with me. I went home with nothing. Turned out after seeing another practitioner, I was extremely dehydrated from too much working out and not enough water. A diagnosis that was quickly figured out. Had a sinus infection and told them Amoxicillin doesn't typically work for me, what do they give me? Amoxicillin. Used it, symptoms improved but never went entirely away. Got another antibiotic a month later and was allergic. (even though the PA told me I wasn't allergic and I could keep taking it with a rash, fever and chills what I later discovered to be 'severe allergic reaction'.) Got just 5 days of another antibiotic, still wasn't completely better because of the break in the course of antibiotics. Gave me a hard time about getting a refill and said (rudely) I must need an ENT, (like I'm some kind of antibiotic user/addict or something.) Ridiculous as I never get sinus infections and this was obviously just mistreated. Always rude and disgruntled on the phone. These people need to decide if this career is right for them. Too busy shoveling patients in and out to actually care about anyone. On the bright side, if you see Jannie or CJ they are GREAT!!!!!! avoid all others in this practice!!!!
