Top restaurant in Boulder!. The Kitchen is one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder. All of their food is organic and delicious! The ambiance is really cool as well and it has a really cool vibe to it. You need to check it out!
Finally I can eat at a restaraunt without feeling guilty.. After watching Food Inc. I was left wondering " Where and what can I eat now?". Enter The Kitchen. Super yummy food thats organic, sourced locally, and humanely. They answered my prayers. We ate Upstairs and loved the comfy couches and cozy atmosphere. Our food kind of took forever which was a drawback since we were dining with our three children. They started to get a little antsy but were well rewarded with, I quote my 5 year old, " the best mac and cheese ever! I love this place!" We took advantage of their Tasting Hour and ordered quite a few sides at a very reasonable price. Our total bill was $75 for a family of five including an alcoholic beverage. Not bad in my book seeing as how we boxed up quite a bit of food to bring home. It was such a wonderful experience to eat at a eco-friendly establishment where the food exceeded my expectations. We will defineately be eating here again albeit probably without our children next time.
Jury is still out on this place. I'll give it 3 stars for now. Ate their twice -- once was good, the other time wasn't so good. The service isn't great (wait-staff). Will return.
great wine and helpful staff. love this place...really known to serve the true locals! I eat and drink here a few times a week..love the ambiance and know that I can relax with well versed professional wait staff...did i mention the appetizer with the poached egg ? Sounds weird..but really its a must!

The Kitchen fully deserves every bad review/ criticism included here-in. I encourage you to vote with your feet and spend your money somewhere else. The ownership here is beyond themselves with lousy food, service, community, and personal relationships.

Wood burning ovens stink!. Since they use wood burning equipment noxious fumes are spewed over Boulder's downtown. Google "cancer and wood burning " then ask why. The cooking method is just as important as using organic or local food. Eco-friendly? Eco-responsible? How about protecting the environment .
Fresh, organic and delicious. This place has been a favorite of mine for four years. I can honestly say that in the 30+ times I have visited, I have never been disappointed. On a recent visit I had the pork sandwich and my girlfriend had the roasted beet and goat cheese salad. Both were outstanding. Also try the chicken and cous cous, the hummus, the burrata and the cheese board.
Good food, below-average service. We went to The Kitchen after 5280 made it seem like Colorado's French Laundry. We were all pretty excited but the chaos ensued the second after we walked in the door. There is no discernible waiting area when you enter. You just kind of stand there until the hostess decides to stop talking to her emo friends sitting at the bar. We literally stood there for 3 minutes as she gabbed away. We finally got sat and literally waited 15 minutes before we were approached by anyone. The waitress did not offer an apology as asked us for a drink order as if we were bothering her. The drinks took 5 minutes and she forgot to even order my wife's martini so another server had to pick up her slack. 10 minutes later we finally got an appetizer order in - the fava bean bruschetta and the duck confit. The bruschetta was bland and the confit was good but boring. I am not sure of the quality of everyone else's food but I ordered the ribeye and it was incredibly overcooked. The rest of the night was just slow on the server's part and the food was nothing special. Doubt we'll be going back.
I wouldn't eat there if it was free.
My wife and I ate at the Kitchen for our anniversary and were NOT impressed. In order, our gripes:
-A $10 salad should NOT contain *grass* (no, not wheatgrass, or anything like that - a big blade of plain old grass). I can eat grass for free, guys.
-A $12 "half portion" of a ravioli entree should probably be more than 2 ounces of food. My wife ordered this dish and we were *shocked* to see that her giant bowl contained 3 minescule (perhaps 2 inches on a side, with minimal filling) ravioli.
-"Pesto" is a sauce containing both basil and garlic. My "pesto" gnocchi dish contained neither, as far as I could tell, and tasted similar to something available at an all-you-can-eat buffet - overly salted mush without discernible texture. The "pesto" was at least green, though.
In short, we spent $70 for tiny portions of bad food. Never again.

In the last few years we?ve seen an increase in restaurants with an eye toward sustainable menus and locally grown, often organic, ingredients. It?s safe to say The Kitchen?s success since opening in 2004 is one of the reasons. The menu features (mostly) Colorado meats and produce that are free range and/or organic. That pays off in taste as well as peace of mind when eating such delights as the Cassoulet with abondanza farm beans, braised lamb, pork and housemade sausage. The brunch and wine lists are as impressive (they even recycle the corks).
