The cozy dining area offers romantic seating by the fire as well as larger tables for groups of friends and family. Some prefer sitting at the bar, where the attentive chefs are eager to please with favorite cuts and exotic nightly specials. In addition to the classic options, choose from several unique rolls: crunchy tuna with citrus aioli, white fish and vegetables wrapped in cucumber rather than rice, and shrimp tempura with beef tenderloin.
Not what expected, terrible service, ok food.

Don't waste your time, or your money, this place is not worth it. We had really bad sevice the first time we were there and decided to give it another try only to be disappointed. Our food was cold (the one that was supposed to be hot), it took over 20 minutes for the waitress to take our drink order and then another 20 to get our drinks. We were there for almost an hour before we got the soups that we ordered for appetizers, and there were only two other tables with customers in the restaurant, I would hate to be there when it's full. We complained to the manager, who didn't do anything to fix the problem, instead they added 18% gratuity to our bill for the terrible service we got. Food was just ok, not worth it. Needless to say, we do not recommend Sushi Mara and would not be dinning there in the future.
- Cons: cold food, terrible service, bad management.
Awesome Sushi!!

This restaurant is awesome. The sushi is always fresh and delicious and the service is super friendly. They have interesting and exciting specials. The sushi chefs try their best to make your experience fun. Its a cheers type environment where if you're a regular everyone knows your name and even better, your drink order. The waitress is always super sweet but she can get busy when the room fills up so put in your requests early and be patient. If you live in the area put this place on your list of favorites!
Believe the hype!!

So I've read all the pros and cons about this little sushi joint and I'd have to say there is a little bit of truth to all of it. The sushi is absolutely outstanding and I don't think that this point can be at all contested. The fish comes in daily except for Sundays - per the chefs. It's obvious that this sushi staff cares a great deal about what they are producing and how it comes out. I'm always blown away at how beautiful the plates look and my guests always say they'll be back for the food. The specials always are outstanding so I'd recommend those and I can't say there isn't anything I don't like on the sushi menu
The room is cozy and quaint but can definitely get loud during the weekends as this place is packed to the gills with waits up to an hour!! Come in early or be prepared to sit at the bar and enjoy one of the best wine lists this side of Boulder City. Just be patient because as I have found out people like to sit in this little restaurant and getting them to leave is painstaking.
As the room is small and there are only two chefs the wait for the food can be a little long and the one server a little overwhelmed when it's busy. On the slower nights the service has always been spot on but when it gets too busy it can be hard to flag her down. If you are looking for stellar service I'd say go on the weekdays.
All in all this little sushi restaurant is a gem not only to Boulder County but also to Boulder City itself!
- Pros: Best Sushi in Boulder
- Cons: Too Popular
