Sushi Sasa

East Coast Innovation. West Coast Charm.

  • Sushi
  • Sake
  • Healthy

Sushi Sasa is designed to offer Denver the opportunity to enjoy Traditional and "New Style" Japanese cuisine harmoniously beneath one roof. The seasonal, healthy, beautiful and affordable tasting menu compliments the fully functioning sushi bar bridging the gap between East coast innovation and West coast charm. Bilingual chefs man the sushi bar at the rear of the zen-like space and offer up exotic fish and produce from around the world with the heart of the cuisine remaining Japanese. With a wonderful sake and wine list and a cozy downstairs lounge, Sushi Sasa is a perfect place for a business lunch or a nice dinner with friends.

Editorial Review for Sushi Sasa – by Lori Midson

In Short
This well-hidden austere sushi spot is filled with dimly lit pale-wooded tables requiring minimal adornment--save for fresh flowers and chopsticks. Customers settle at a table or at the sushi bar occupied by a seasoned team of banter-friendly pros. The sushi, whether its yellowtail, toro, or silken scallops, is superbly fresh, and even the hot dishes, such as the Chilean sea bass, stand up to intense scrutiny.

The food was pretty good, but the atmosphere and service need work. If you sit upstairs, it is crowed and noisy. I also expected the service to be fine dining due to the prices. Not so, and she overcharged us. She charged $20 dollars per glass of wine that was $10. My boyfriend didn't tell me until we got home, so I didn't get a chance to correct the mistake. Giving her the benefit of the doubt that it was just a mistake, not the kind of mistake I would expect from a nice restaurant. I might try it again during the week to see if the service is better, but last time I went it was just as noisy. Also, it bothers me that the restrooms are oddly situated and you can hear the dining room noise. Maybe that is just me. I went for a special birthday dinner that wasn't very special.

Pros: good sushi

Cons: noisy, crowded, service

I LOVE this place! It is the BEST sushi I have ever had! I've had sushi at some of the best places in the US, Nobu, Geisha House, Social House but Wayne has a special way of making it beyond exceptional, FRESH ingrediants, absolute chic atmosphere, Lychee martinis... Awh, I love it!

Pros: Its the best sushi I have ever had!
