First of all, don't expect to actually get a cleaning at your first apt. They have you come in to assess what type of cleaning you need - based on my research this is not standard dental practice. Every time I came in for the treatments I was told I needed there was something new wrong in my mouth. It wasn't until my third visit that the dentist decided to mention to me that I had what she classified as a "significant" crack in my tooth. Hmmm . . wouldn't that be something that would be appropriately addressed at that initial appointment when we discussed the multiple treatments I would need? Why would she neglect to bring it up until the third visit? It was that visit that she was in my mouth with a drill so, for all I know, she cracked the tooth (if there was, indeed, a crack in my tooth at all). She suggested that I wait until I feel pain and then get a root canal and a crown - as opposed to just dealing with it now and getting only a crown. All very suspicious to me and all leading to more money for her. They also billed me prior to my apt. and then on the way out there was an additional charge - of the same amount, so not minuscule - because of "unanticipated fees." The dentist failed to mention this to me at all while she was working in my mouth or after she was done. I was just charged AGAIN upon leaving the office. Well, I'm sorry, but you are the professional - it's your job to anticipate these costs and to inform me of what you are doing and what you are charging me for. Not to mention numerous scheduling errors committed by the incompetent people working the front desk. However, my primary concern is with the shady dentistry that is practiced here. They are not up front with their patients and simply after your money.
Tough experience – I went to Comfort Dental in Boulder because I don't have insurance and their prices were better then private dentists. I have had a very trying experience, it has taken over a year to get 3 crowns made correctly that I feel comfortable wearing. I had a couple visits where they were behind schedule (usually evenings) and I had to wait even though I had an appointment, although mornings I rarely had to wait too long. I think they try to keep all the rooms filled with patients, so I didn't get as much time with the actual dentist as I would have liked. Hygenists did sometimes forget to clean me up and I walked out of there with stuff on my face, which was quite embarrassing! They have been very sympathetic and did offer my my money back since there were so many problems, but I have had a stressful experience overall.
Bad! Do not go to this dentist! Find one with good reviews. Save yourself the hastle! None of the "Comfort Dental" locations have good ratings! This must be where dentists who can't find a job go to work.
Painful and Terrible!!! Nothing Comfortable about it – This is the worst dentist I have ever been to. Dental techs do all the work. Told them about a painful area and disregarded my discomfort. Told me on my first visit that I needed several crowns. Saw the dentist for about 5 minutes. Wanted to work out payment plan on my first visit. Never received cleaning- I had to go back twice just to accomplish a routine cleaning. Never went back.
Painful, sloppy, and overpriced – I went here for a tooth cleaning and the dentist pressured me into getting a crown. Thinking that the dentist knew best, I went ahead. It was very expensive and though I've never had problems with that side of my mouth before, now it's doesn't quite close right and leaves my jaw aching each night.
The procedure was dragged out over 3 very long painful visits during which the dentist was almost never around and the work was performed by lone inexperienced assistants. I hesitate to go back in to get the bite fixed because all the previous visits were so horrible.
I think this place is just out to make money. Two other people I know in the area have gone here and the first thing the dentist wanted was for them to get crowns. I was able to talk on friend into getting a second opinion on that.
My advice is to look elsewhere for you dental needs. These people are not cheap, but their work is.
Comfort Dental – That was the worst teeth cleaning. I am a coffee drinker, so I make sure to get my teeth cleaned often. They left stains on my teeth and didn't even floss.
CHEAP BUT NOT WORTH IT...
terrible dentist – This place is run like a sweatshop. Too many patients. Dentist is not available most of the time. Nothing "comfortable about it." And not as cheap as they advertise.
painful. too many patients. dentist m.i.a. – terrible--no numbing prior to novocaine. assistants do all the labor, even on complicated procedures. don't go there. the staff is good, but should they have to do everything?
