My New Favorite Place!. Last night my husband and I had our first experience at Aji Restaurant on Pearl Street in Boulder - it is one block east of the walking mall. We began with margaritas and ceviche in the bar area for happy hour. The happy hour deals are wonderful - discounted mojitos and marg, beer, wine, ceviche and empanadas. The ceviche was fresh and the marg was made with fresh juices and agave nectar to sweeten. A nice touch we thought! Other menu items were also available - but stick to the discount items, that's where the real value is at!! From there we proceeded to a table in the dining room. The setting is warm and well done. For dinner we ordered a Cuban Bread Salad to share and split 2 entrees - the scalllops and the vegetarian eggplant rellenos. The salad was crisp and clean and the dressing was seasoned perfectly! Our scallops were fresh, cooked nicely and were accompanied by a great black rice with coconut milk. The salsas on the rellenos packed a nice kick and the quinoa was cooked well. Housemade riccota cheese provided a nice cool down from the salsas! Service was on point all throughout the night from bar to dining room. Employees were hospitable and knowledgable, but unobtrusive. The wine list was fully South American, with some additional Spanish selections and a cocktail list comprised of Latin classics! I haven't seen a cocktail and wine list like this anywhere in Boulder!!! We skipped dessert, but will certainly indulge on our next visit-which will be soon! We're excited to return in the summer as well, so we can enjoy the patio and people watch on Pearl!

Amazing Food for the Price. Every time I go to Aji I am amazed by the quality of the food, especially for the price. Don't get me wrong, it is possible to spend a good deal of money, but in comparison to some of Boulder's other restaurants, it's a pretty decent price. But getting back to the food... it's great. Don't go to Aji expecting traditional Central and South American food, but instead be ready for some wonderful flavors, inspired by Latin-America. I would have to say my only gripe is the slightly "turn and burn" service, but on the other hand you basically get what you pay for. All in all I would have to rate Aji one of Boulder's best.

Good food - BAD Service.. I've been so excited everytime I've gone to Aji due to my passion for Latin cuisine, and although the food us usually good, if not great, the service is a constant dissapointment. Only once has the service been extremely slow, usually it's attentive but the waitstaff has absolutely NO personality and after arriving excited the server almost always brings me down to some level of melancholy. The atmosphere is outstanding and all of the starters (ceviche, empanadas, sopas...) are wonderful, though the entree's are always good they don't quite live up to my expectations. Ultimately, if Aji's waitstaff was more knowledgable about the cuisine and less dour, this would be one of Boulder's top five restaurants... as it is, I'm not sure it will be around in a year or two.

Amazing. Every time I have ordered something different, I loved it! Happy hour is the best. All other times are expensive, though the food is worth every dime.

Best Latin Fusion Food - great price and value. We loved this. I am a good food freak and this is now one of my favorite restaurants in Boulder along with the Dushanbe Teahouse and Lucilles. Their Hamburgesa is an amazing twist on the hamburger (pork and beef), Yam fries (EXCELLENT) and the most amazing Churro dessert with coffee dipping sauce. Also, their cocktails and virgin drinks (ginger and lime) rocked. Very cool people and good service too. I hope it gets reviewed more and is there next time I come to Boulder, CO. Enjoy!
