The only bad experience I had was not being able to get a hold of somebody on the weekend for key replacement. Otherwise, Sunnyside is good enough for now. Keep up the good work!
When I call for any kind of maintenance they are very nice and helpful, and the maintenance crew are very quick.
I love the food when we come to pay rent, cookies are awesome. Very nice service all the time, but I wish we could pay online.
This management company should change it's name to SLUMLords Rentals. They are the worst at maintaining the property. They should lose their license to run a business. The properties are run down and they do not make repairs in any kind of a timely manner, unless one considers toilets being unusable for 3 weeks and then when repaired , still do no function properly. This type of problem was only one of many at this property. There are health related issues at stake when certain things go unrepaired. How do they stay in business? Because they take advantage of people trying to pay for a good education in an overpopulated area where there are few places available. They charge a fortune in rent for run down hell holes!
You deserve better. – Kind of ironic because the name implies happiness, cheerfulness and kindness. These guys are a joke. If you like paying alot of money for for an overpriced apartment to someone who treats you like a second class citizen, then please, come here! They will treat you like a king in order to get you to sign that lease, and then... well, have fun dealing with a bunch of arrogant kids who are your managers. The only way I can make any sense of their attitudes is that they must not have any competition and must have a really awesome product, because lets just say the customer service skills are, uh... lacking. Those haughty office staff need to be working at a Mcdonalds not managing apartments, that might help them learn some respect for there position and for others.
HORRIBLE PEOPLE HORRIBLE BUSINESS – I wish I could give ZERO stars. When my roommates and I first moved in, we had a broken stove, broken washing machine, closet doors with punched-in holes, and a broken dishwasher among MANY MANY things. Like other users have said, it took them MONTHS to come out and fix just a few of those things. all of our appliances are from the 70s and BADLY need replacing, along with our old-as-hell carpet that has rips and is hardly even a carpet anymore.
We scheduled a meeting with them last year to discuss how unhappy we were with them they told us they didn't want to resign with us (!!!!!).
We have many fees that they never told us about and whenever someone does come by to fix something they come by unannounced and have a handyman who is not only creepy but constantly makes innappropriate comments towards one of our roommates.
The thing that pushed me off the edge was my recent finding from the horrific rental company. One of our roommates moved out and another moved in and they crossed out MY name from the mailbox so I haven't been getting ANY of my mail for the past month! They can't even get their tenets right?!?!?!
The manager is a complete jerk and so is everyone else who works there. Horrible people. Horrible company.

GET OUT YOUR CHECK BOOK FOR EXTRAS AND BE PREPARED TO BE HUNG UP ON. THEY WILL GET EVERY CENT OUT OF YOU THEY CAN. THE LEASE IS WRITTEN IN SUCH A WAY THAT IT ONLY WORKS FOR THEIR ACCOUNTING. I AM A VERY RESPECTED COMMERICAL RENTAL OWNER IN CALIFORNIA. MY BUSINESS AND TENANTS WOULD NOT RETURN IF I TREATED THEM THIS WAY. WE RENTED THIS PLACE FOR OUR DAUGHTER AND HAD BEEN WARNED FROM A YOUNG COUPLE RE: UTILITIES AND THE EXTRA CHARGES THAT THEY APPLY. THE PROBLEM WAS IS WE COULDN'T REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE COMPANY. I KNOW NOW IT WAS THIS SUNNYSIDE PROPERTY RENTALS...
Worst rental company in Boulder – Zero stars.
I have rented in boulder for over a decade and have had half a dozen different property managers. Sunnyside is by far the worst.
They do not know how to run a business and they are a-holes when you tell them something needs to be fixed. I have called now 4 times to get 2/3 toilets fixed (one doesn't flush and the other runs constantly) and a leaking shower. They are now ignoring my calls!!!! I doubt the owners would want a property manager like this if they knew.
Also, before winter time, they forgot to turn off the sprinklers, of course they busted after the first freeze, flooded the basement and I had a $300+ water bill. 1 - they didn't get the water out of the basement, they let it evaporate and 2 - they made the tenants pay the water bill. I have tried multiple times to talk with someone there about it and they WON'T RETURN MY CALLS!!!!
I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS! AWFUL RENTAL COMPANY – There isn't enough time or room to complain about this horrific and miserable rental company. My roommates and I have been simply SCREWED for our first year of living here in Boulder. We are wonderful, clean, kind tenants and have done nothing but try to work with these people-but it's flat out impossible. They are rude, uneducated, PIRATES. They want your money, and couldn't care less if the pipes are leaking, the appliances aren't working or hazardous, etc. They have NO respect for you, no matter how much you beg for it.
Our home was untouched when we moved into the place. We found holes in the walls, peeling carpets, nails sticking up, banged up doors, broken appliances, stained ceilings and carpets, molding toilet bowls, THE LIST GOES ON AND ON........ seriously, the Conditon Report was more of a list of the very few things that WERE in working condition, while all the rest needed to be fixed immediately. Not only did we not get these things fixed, but the company manager, Peter was an absolute jerk and refused to give us the time of day. So unprofessional, him and his wife are absolutely miserable and show no level of professional knowledge. So, for one year, we have had to fight them over and over and over again for things that need fixing only to spend our own money, time, and energy (when our rent is already over market price) on fixing the place up our self-NOT OKAY AS RENTERS!
One year of hell and we can't WAIT to get out of here. Never ever ever working with them again. I wish there was a way to shut this place down. They are ridiculous in so many ways, I could go on forever.
once you've signed the papers...you're hosed – I've been renting for 10 years, and working with sunny side has been my only negative experience with a landlord. These guys are pirates.
I could write pages about specific examples (mice, broken windows, coming home from work to find "repairmen" in my house, ignored phone calls, being hung up on...), but I'll try to keep it short. Sunnyside won't fix major problems. It took 3 months for us to get an upstairs water leak fixed. In the time it took them to fix the leaking shower, a mold problem developed which they continually told us was "dry rot" and not mold. After we contacted the Boulder Mediation services and scheduled a mold test that us as the tenants were paying for, they finally "fixed" the mold issue. (Once mold has been found in a rental it has to be disclosed to all future tenants, so it would have been bad news for them if there were a paper trail to a mold problem). When we moved out we found that they deducted $2800 of a $3200 deposit for repair costs, including plumbing, drywall and painting of the bathroom and stairwell (where most of the mold was).
I'm a fairly level headed individual and a small business owner. I understand that things happen, and trying to place blame for every situation usually ends up with a lose lose scenario. I'm very good at mediating conflict. Working with sunnyside has been the worst professional experience I have ever had. They are liars. They make no attempt at finding solutions.
I have always had great relationships with my landlords and have even had landlords in the past that would call me when things at their other properties needed to be fixed [the landlord lived out of state].
I'm a good renter. Sunnyside is a company of crooks. Many of the things they did (like charging us for broken pipes and water/mold damage) were illegal. After a year of dealing with them I was worn out and ready to be done with them. They lied about what was legal even as I presented the law to them, and the owner always backed it up with "I've been doing this for 30 years! I know what I'm talking about!". I will live in my truck before I ever rent from these guys again.
