Overpriced, Great Ingredients, Poor Execution.
I have been to the Dish several times this year, and this last visit (Sept. 1st) Was really disappointing. I know the dish is pricey (10$ sandwiches) but I like to go there when I can afford the occasional splurge because their ingredients are top quality.
I decided today to carry-out so my boyfriend and I could eat at home in our great back-yard and made the mistake of not looking at my food before I left. My boyfriend ordered "The Italian" a sandwich with sopressatta, calabrese, mozz, genoa, field greens and a balsamic and kalamata spread on baguette. They did not give us the sandwich in a box with chips, like they normally serve in-house which was a bummer, but we were excited to get home and eat. The sandwich was handsome, but very small. I was surprised because I have had several Dish sandwiches before, all too big to finish which has made for great left-overs. But this was the size of a 5$ sandwich, and the meat was skimpy and the kalamata spread was overused and therefore dominated the whole flavor profile. It was a big disappointment. My Cesar Salad did not have any parmeggiano reggiano in it, like it says on the menu, the romaine was barely prepped (two halves of a head basically) and the chicken I had had added on to it was cold sliced lunch meat, bland and unseasoned. The Dish is pricey, and I knew that but it used to be worth it. Now it seems to be pricey and poorly executed. do not waste your lunch time there.
