Lazy Dog Owners disappointing
by Norwellian at Citysearch
Extremely disappointed with the Lazy Dog owners. We were there 12/13/09. There was a high school football banquet going on. On member of the team was not allowed in by the owners because of a business issue that went bad between the players mom and the owner. Owner threw out the player and his family. What could have gone so bad between the owner and this family that the owner tossed out this kid. It was the end of the season party and you would thing Mr. Big Shot-owner of the establishment could reach within the goodness of his heart and allow this family to spend an hour w/their son's team to celebrate the end of the season. Instead he threw them out and left the player heartbroken and in tears. Nice job Big Shot. This event and the way you handled it was probably a life defining moment in this kids life. Was there a legal issue where this family could not come in. Not sure but it does not really matter. At the end of the day the owners of the Lazy Dog acted like idiots. After this incident many people from the party left in protest. Will they be back? NEVER. and by the way the service was lame and the food was disgusting.
Mr. Big Shot was so proud of himself because he could offer a great deal to a football team party but what really matters each day are matters of the heart and the owners displayed they have no hearts. What you did to that football player will stay with him the rest of his life. Owners: If you are ever in this situation again why don't you be the bigger person and do the right thing and get over the who's right and who's wrong philosophy because at the end of the day that crap does not matter at all. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
I had to give a rating as it was required so I had to give it one start. It should be negative five stars.
- Cons: The owners

Not the best sports bar in Boulder...
by travis_mcghee at Citysearch
The Lazy Dog used to be the big dog on the block. Not so much anymore. I think The Dog is trying too hard to reinvent itself each year and now it's just chasing it's tail. Service is spotty and sometimes, borderline rude. The food has become so-so while the prices have gone up since the bar-b-que side merged into the sports bar side. After three consecutive cheeseburger misfires I would even go so far as to say that The Dog has one of the worst burgers in Boulder. The real low point of my recent ventures to The Dog are the beer prices. They are astronomical. If you're lucky enough to find a "special", you'll still cough up $4 for a pint. Given all of this I still frequent The Dog from time to time because it is a great place to take the kids and the wife loves the bar-b-que. But for warm & friendly service, great food and cheap beer prices in a vibrant sports bar atmosphere definitely try Harpo's on Arapahoe, the Dark Horse on Baseline or Old Chicago on Pearl.
Better at the older location

I frequented Lazy Dog when it was over in the old location, back then it was a sports bar pure and simple. I loved it that way. Since the move it's more of a tavern, which just coincidently has lots of tv playing sports. I still like it but it's gotten too busy for a casual get together venue.
I did go there for most of the World Cup, they had catered to the world cup completely even opening up for the early games. For that I'm grateful to them.
Rooftop Rendezvous
by ambrosgela at Citysearch
The lazydog is a good choice for a drink with friends on the mall - 3 full service bars make it relatively easy to get served anywhere in the joint. College atmosphere in the school season, same as anywhere else in Boulder that time of year. Plenty to keep busy, rooftop is the only place to sit in the summer.
- Pros: Rooftop Bar
- Cons: College Crowd
Great rooftop view

Great casual place with a big selection of choices on the menu. Sit at the bar and watch a game, play pool or just chill on the rooftop and stare at the mountains. THe food is great, especially the wings that come in a variety of flavors. The thai chili are the best!
Fun "hang out"
