ROMANCE AT THE HEART OF JAZZ
by Inga Blankenship at Citysearch
They serve great and sophisticated food and service at the right price. The place is very inviting, something that calls a welcome to every customer and the ambiance is really romantic and jazzy.
Great Food and Friendly Service
by colorado_restaurant_lover at Citysearch
The restaurant is absolutely fantastic. The food was great and the service was very friendly as many of their patrons say. I just don't understand why AAA only gives the 2 diamonds to them where Mobil which is much more rigid than AAA requirements gave its 3 star. Anyway, if you are looking for somewhere romantic with a little bit of jazz accent, great food but less than $30entree(1 or 2 might be over $30) , and a friendly service, this place is the best place to go. I would say that the top 3 restaurants in Boulder are probably Flagstaff House, Q's, and John's. Although john's does not have expensive items such as Truffle or Caviar, their dishes are very creative and sophisticated.

Not your average John.

This cozy, romantic, well appointed cottage serves up terrific entrees at prices you would expect for this level of cuisine. We started with a very tangy ceasar salad and an apple pecan stilton salad that was loaded with stilton. For our entrees we had the duck breast served with wild mushroom ravioli in a brandy sauce (excellent), and the Marmite Marseillaise fresh combination of seafood similar to bouillabaise. Service was a little slow, but they made up for it by serving us two complimentary glasses of wine. The wine list was limited for wines in the $20 - $30 range, but interesting. For desert we had the nuts & berries, a pistachio cake with raspberry cream cheese frosting which was delicate and delicious. The food and the atmosphere alone will keep patrons coming back to John's.

Best dining expereience ever. Friendly staff, superb chef, excellent food, romantic and quite atomisphere. Wide range of menu selections, chef's specials are a must. Even foods that I had never tried before this dining expereince and might not have ordered, if it were not for the managment suggestion, were absolutly fabulous. This restaurant has taste, class and pazzazz. I have told everyone about this cozy and quaint little find in Boulder and am looking forward to frequently dining here for years to come.*****
- Pros: fantastic food, wonderful atomisphere, superb chef and staff
Dinner with Friends
by markmaxwell at Citysearch
Myself and 5 friends recently dined at John's and what a dinner! We knew John's was under new ownership and were very excited to try it out. The food was amazing and the service excellent. They have a wonderful selection of wines for such a small restaurant. I recommend the Alaskan Halibut. For a wider sampling go with the chef's tasting menu. Dessert is a must with the Queen Sheba. I have rediscovered John's, I recommend you do the same!
- Pros: Great food & wine, Small & Charming, Excellent Service
