My Favorite Beans
by wflan at Citysearch
KT's is some of the best BBQ you can get, in my opinion, is always prompt (great for picking up an easy and delicious meal), and has some delightful beans. Though they have pork in them, with a touch of the mild or medium sauce are truly sublime. Very Highly Recommended.
- Pros: Food, Speediness, Price, Food
- Cons: Location, while hardly far from Boulder, isn't convenient or central Boulderites
This rib palace delivers the goods--from knockout ribs and snappy sauces to grade-A side dishes and big values for the buck.

In Short
KT's original location is a two-story layout with a quiet basement dining room just beneath the main room. A velvet Elvis and piped-in Memphis blues add a nice, homey touch. The superb, Memphis-style pork ribs are gently smoked, dry-rubbed bones that are basted and grilled prior to hitting the plate. The rub packs a hit of spicy heat, the lean meat is laced with vague smokiness. Mini Key-lime pies are a tangy meal closer.
Takes me back to Memphis!

KT's does a great job on their pulled pork and ribs. The sauces are fine. The "Killer Beans" are missing somethiong they need but have too much of stuff they don't need, so stick to the excellent slaw and the mashed potatoes. I still go with Brothers as the better barbecue place, but I usually go to KTs more often because I live in Broomfield. Great stuff most of the time; occasionally inconsistent.
- Pros: great barbecue
- Cons: closes too early, inconsistent
Best Sauce

Tiny place out of the way in east Boulder, nice.
Real southern BBQ sauce plus some really spicy Texas sauce.
Be sure to try the sides, great potato salad.
- Pros: good deal, best ribs
Flavor perfection!

The perfect blend of sweet, spicy, and tangy! Several different sauces to choose from. Side items are tasty as well. Save room for the little cup of key lime pie-that will put the fire out from the spicy sauce!
For Denver, not bad

Broomfield: Joe's Rib Basket w/Double Diamond sauce, Mike's Basket (beef w/Memphis), small June Bowl (pork w/DD). The D.D. sauce was labeled 'Pure Fire, experts only'. It wasnt' hot. Memphis sauce was ok. Ribs were well smoked and rubbed; quality of meat only fair. Meat was close to falling off bone. June Bowl was unimpressive (pork, mashed, and beans smooshed together). Didn't like the beans; not flavored well enough. Slaw got some praise; big winner-the tasty mashed potatoes. When I arrived there were only 2 young (~18) kids working who told me they were 'swamped' and didn't have time to make my order yet. I waited 10 extra mins. a large line formed behind me. Though food is so so, I would go back to KT's reason: price. Mike's Basket cost $7 w/2 sides and drink. Rib basket $9 also w/2 sides and drink. Price aside, it's just not spectacular barbecue.
- Pros: price, quantity, mashed potatoes
- Cons: sauce, speed of service, bbq beans
